Ghana midfielder Kwadwo Asamoah has received a massive boost as his
Italian club Juventus have added him in their Champions League squad
ahead of their Round of 16 clash against Bayern Munich later this month.
Asamoah, who was omitted from the initial squad at the start of the
season, returns to the Old Lady squad, despite being crocked.
However, with the current injury deemed not too serious, they have
decided that the midfielder will play a key role for his side in the
coming matches in the European top-flight competition.
Asamoah was excluded from the Champions League squad at the start of
the season as he had then not recovered from a year-long injury but he
recently made a return before suffering a not-too-serious setback.
The Italian champions have submitted their 23-man squad to Europe's
governing body, UEFA, for the second phase of the continent's elite
inter-club competition and that included the Ghana ace.
The addition of the Ghana international comes at the expense of Mario Lemina, who has been left out to make room for him.
Asamoah, 27, is currently nursing an injury which kept him out of the side's 4-0 win at Chievo Verona last Sunday.
Although it's unclear when he will be passed fit to return to the
pitch, Asamoah's addition to the squad amplifies his high profile status
at the club.
The Bianconeri will hope the Black Star man gets fit in time ahead of
their first-leg tie against the German powerhouse on February 23 at the
Juventus stadium.
