Australian Champions Sydney FC are considering a move for Ghana midfielder Michael Essien. Ghanafans.com has learnt.
The A-League Club is said to have made the Ghanaian international their number one target ahead of the January transfer window.
Essien who recently resumed from a troublesome knee injury has made
only three competitive appearances for Panathinaikos since joining the
Greek Club from Italian giants AC Milan.
The 32-year-old has endured series of injuries which has kept him on the low.
The former Chelsea midfield kingpin could, however, be making his way
out from Europe having featured for the likes of Bastia, Lyon, Chelsea
and AC Milan.
The midfielder shot to fame after helping French Club Olympique Lyon to
the last 4 of the UEFA Champions League which eventually earned him an
opportunity to join Chelsea in 2005
